Mechanical Engineering Manager – Product Design & Development | Hampshire
We’re looking for a talented Mechanical Engineering Manager to lead a team of engineers in the design and development of innovative products. This is a chance to take ownership of projects from concept to production, while driving technical excellence, quality, and team success.
The Role
You’ll manage the full design lifecycle, ensuring products are robust, reliable, and delivered on time and within cost targets. Leading by example, you’ll mentor your team, foster collaboration, and continuously improve processes. You’ll apply design-for-manufacture principles, ensure compliance with industry standards, and work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality products.
Key Responsibilities

Lead and motivate a team of mechanical engineers through varied projects

Oversee design, development, and delivery of new products into production
*
Set and monitor performance KPIs and drive continuous improvement
*
Optimise designs for manufacturability, cost, and assembly
*
Ensure compliance with industry standards and test methods
*
Collaborate with wider engineering teams for efficient, functional solutions
About You
*
Degree or HND in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
*
Strong experience leading mechanical design teams with proven product delivery
*
Skilled in 3D CAD and PDM tools (SolidWorks preferred)
*
Knowledge of design for manufacture/assembly and electromechanical design
*
Familiar with compliance standards and regulatory requirements
*
Strong communicator with excellent problem-solving and leadership skills
