Job Description
We’re on the lookout for an experienced Mechanical Estimator to join a leading name within the HVAC sector and take ownership of the estimating function.
You’ll play a key role in the whole estimation process, from receipt and scheduling of all tenders and quotes through to hand-over with the delivery teams.
What we’re looking for
* Proven experience as a Mechanical Estimator within HVAC/Building Services
* Strong drawing/spec interrogation, take-off and measurement skills
* Confident in supplier/subcontractor engagement and levelling
* Proficient in Excel; exposure to estimating software is a strong advantage
* Clear written communication skills with the ability to compile professional submissions
* Organised, deadline-driven, with the ability to handle multiple tenders simultaneously
* Comfortable attending and presenting at client/subcontractor meetings

Key Responsibilities
* Read, understand and scrutinise specifications and drawings
* Complete disciplined take-offs from consultants or other tender drawings, particularly for pipework services
* Tender site visits to fully establish the Scope of Works and specific site requirements.
* Prepare and issue supplier and subcontractor enquiry packages
* Compare and level returned quotations to ensure compliance and competitiveness
* Produce detailed Tender Cost Reports for adjudication
* Arrange and attend site visits, including coordinating specialists or subcontractors where required
* Attend mid-tender and post-tender interviews to present commercial and technical understanding
* Compile and submit complete tenders, including portal uploads
* Provide ongoing estimating support to Contracts Management post-handover
* Identify and propose value-engineering options to strengthen bids
* Support development of tender processes and the implementation of estimating software
