Job Description
Mechanical Estimator (Intermediate–Senior) — Hampshire
We’re recruiting on behalf of a respected and growing M&E Building Services contractor based in Hampshire, known for high-quality delivery across healthcare and commercial projects. They’ve built long-term client relationships through reliability and technical excellence, and offer a supportive, team-oriented workplace with clear progression.
They’re now seeking a Mechanical Estimator, whether you’re an Intermediate Estimator building independence, an Experienced Estimator confidently running tenders, or a Senior Estimator ready to take full ownership. You’ll be pricing pre-designed and design & build projects typically ranging from £20k–£2m, covering healthcare and medium-scale commercial.
Responsibilities:
* Prepare accurate, competitive cost estimates for mechanical services projects.
* Review specs/drawings, carry out take-offs, and obtain supplier quotations.
* Lead or contribute to tender submissions and bid documentation.
* Liaise with suppliers, clients, and internal delivery teams.
* Support value-engineering and cost-optimisation initiatives.
* Senior level: own multiple tenders; mentor junior colleagues.
Skills & Experience:
* Mechanical Building Services estimating background (heating, ventilation, AC, plumbing).
* Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail.
* Intermediate: ~2–5 years, growing autonomy with support.
* Experienced Mechanical Estimator: ~5–8 years, runs tenders independently; adds to bid strategy.
* Senior Mechanical Estimator: 9+ years, leads multiple tenders; mentors others; shapes bid approach.
* Collaborative, clear communicator; comfortable in a team environment.
Package & Benefits:
* Base Salary: Intermediate £40–50k • Experienced £50–60k • Senior £60–70k.
* Experienced & Senior: Hybrid company car (or car allowance, if preferred) plus travel expenses.
