Job Description
Options Resourcing are recruiting on behalf of a well-established Main Contractor based in Southampton, delivering high-quality construction and refurbishment projects across the South of England. Our portfolio spans education, healthcare, MOD, and local authority sectors, with a strong reputation for technical excellence, collaborative working, and sustainable delivery.
My client is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Mechanical Estimator to join the pre-construction team. You will play a pivotal role in preparing accurate and competitive tenders for mechanical packages across a range of public sector projects. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to meaningful work that improves communities and public infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare detailed mechanical estimates for HVAC, plumbing, and building services
Analyse drawings, specifications, and tender documentation
Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotations
Attend site visits and pre-tender meetings to assess project scope
Collaborate with design, commercial, and project teams to ensure alignment
Contribute to value engineering and risk management strategies
Maintain and update estimating databases and cost libraries
Candidate Profile
Proven experience as a Mechanical Estimator within the construction industry
Strong understanding of mechanical systems in public sector buildings
Familiarity with MOD protocols and security requirements (desirable)
Proficient in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite
Excellent analytical, communication, and negotiation skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
Relevant qualifications in mechanical engineering or building services
