Mechanical Estimator – Building Services
Are you an experienced or developing Mechanical Estimator looking to progress your career, or perhaps an M&E Quantity Surveyor or Mechanical Project Manager looking to transition into an estimating role?
We’re recruiting on behalf of a well-respected and steadily growing M&E Building Services contractor based west of Southampton, recognised for delivering high-quality mechanical and HVAC projects across the healthcare, commercial, and public sectors. They’ve earned a strong reputation for reliability, technical excellence, and a supportive team culture that encourages professional development and long-term progression.
You’ll join a collaborative team pricing mechanical building services packages typically valued between £50k and £2m.
Responsibilities:
* Prepare accurate, competitive cost estimates for mechanical building services projects
* Review drawings and specifications, carry out detailed take-offs, and obtain supplier quotations
* Assist in tender submissions and bid documentation
* Liaise with suppliers, consultants, and internal project teams
* Support value-engineering and cost-optimisation initiatives
Skills & Experience:
* Background within mechanical building services, ideally in estimating, quantity surveying, or project management
* Strong technical understanding of HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical building services systems
* Excellent attention to detail and commercial awareness
* Confident communicator with both suppliers and internal teams
Remuneration Package – Mechanical Estimator
* Salary: £50,000 – £70,000 (reflective of experience and seniority)
* Company car or car allowance
* Pension options
* 22 days’ holiday + Bank Holidays (rising annually to 28 days after 4 years)
