Mechanical Fitter

Wakefield | £17.30 per hour | Permanent | Days

A well-established automation engineering business in Wakefield is looking for a skilled Mechanical Fitter to join its team on a permanent basis.

The work is hands-on and varied, involving the build and assembly of bespoke, low-volume machinery within a close-knit workshop environment, alongside occasional visits to customer sites for equipment installation and commissioning. The Role

Building and assembling special purpose machinery from engineering drawings

Installing equipment at customer premises when required

Using hand tools, lifting equipment and workshop machinery

Carrying out risk assessments and working to HSE safe working practices

Liaising with customer technical teams during installation phases

Contributing ideas to improve build methods and assembly processes

What We're Looking For

HNC in Mechanical Engineering or solid equivalent hands-on experience

Proven background in mechanical assembly or machinery build

Confident reading and working from detailed engineering drawings

Sound understanding of machine safety and safe systems of work

Comfortable in customer-facing environments when out on site

Willing to travel occasionally for installation work

Experience with basic electrical or pneumatic systems is advantageous but not essential

What's on Offer

£17.30 per hour

Permanent position from day one

Day shifts: Monday to Thursday 08:00 to 16:30, Friday 08:00 to 15:15
