Mechanical Fitters – Stockport – £19.22 to £25.56 per hour
A well-established engineering business in Stockport is looking to recruit experienced Mechanical Fitters to support the build and assembly of large-scale military bridging systems. This work forms part of a high-profile defence programme delivering critical infrastructure to the British Army.
This is a hands-on fitting role involving the mechanical assembly of large structural components to tight tolerances. Welding is not required, but applicants must be confident working from detailed engineering drawings and using a range of hand tools, power tools, and workshop equipment to complete precise mechanical assemblies.
Key requirements:
NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
Proven experience in mechanical fitting or assembly of large equipment/structures
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
Comfortable using a variety of tools and equipment for precision assembly work
Flexibility to cover occasional night shifts when required (core role is on days)
Shifts and Pay:
Day Shift (core working pattern):
Monday to Thursday – 07:00 to 15:30
Friday – 07:00 to 12:30
Pay: £19.22 per hour
Night Shift (as required for cover):
Monday to Thursday – 21:15 to 06:55
Pay: £25.56 per hour
