We are a leading Electrical & Mechanical Engineering contractor working within the UK construction industry, specialising in projects for the Water Utilities sector. We deliver high-quality mechanical installation, maintenance, and repair services to some of the UK’s most important infrastructure providers.
We are now seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join our growing team. This is an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Fitter who thrives on variety — you’ll work across pumping stations, treatment works, and other water infrastructure sites, tackling everything from short-term callouts to major installation projects.
The Role:
As a Mechanical Fitter reporting to the Project Manager, you will be responsible for delivering installation, repair, and maintenance works on mechanical systems and equipment. Your role will be hands-on, working on varied sites, and will require the highest standards of safety and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities:

Read, understand, and work to Risk & Method Statements (RAMS) and 2D/3D design drawings
*
Carry out mechanical installations & repairs, including pumps, fans, and gearboxes
*
Install and maintain pipework (small to large diameter) and valves
*
Service and repair penstocks and flap valves
*
Undertake general steelwork including handrails, ladders, and platforms
*
Erect lifting gantries and associated equipment
*
Perform routine mechanical maintenance and servicing of plant equipment
*
Work safely in confined spaces, at height, and in hazardous environments
*
Build and maintain strong client relationships on-site
*
Participate in a call-out rota for 24/7 client breakdown cover
*
Adhere to company policies, procedures, H&S requirements, and quality management systems
*
Ensure all sites are left clean, tidy, and compliant after works
About You:
*
Full mechanical apprenticeship or equivalent mechanical qualifications
*
CSCS card holder
*
Proven experience as a Mechanical Fitter in installation, maintenance, and repair
*
Ability to interpret technical drawings and RAMS documentation
*
Comfortable working at height, in confined spaces, and hazardous areas (training provided where required)
*
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage time effectively
*
Good written and verbal communication skills
*
Team player with a professional and customer-focused approach
Desirable Experience:
*
Previous work within the Water Utilities, Wastewater, or Water Treatment sectors
*
Experience with mechanical works on industrial or infrastructure projects
