Mechanical Project Manager – HVAC
Reading/London + Travel
We're currently representing a respected, fast-growing HVAC contractor with a stellar track record of delivering high-spec mechanical projects for Tier 1 main contractors across the UK. With offices in London, Bristol, and Cardiff, they’re known for their end-to-end in-house design capabilities, top-tier project delivery standards, and commitment to quality and safety – backed by ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and full CDM compliance.
Due to continued growth and an expanding pipeline of work, they’re now looking for an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to join the team, covering projects across Reading, London, and occasionally other regions as needed.
The Role:
This is a key hire. Reporting directly to the London Contracts Director, you’ll take full ownership of high-profile mechanical packages – primarily HVAC – on major commercial and mixed-use schemes. You’ll manage everything from preconstruction through to handover, ensuring projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to the highest standard.
You’ll be the linchpin between site teams, senior stakeholders, and clients, ensuring smooth coordination and proactive problem-solving throughout the project lifecycle.
What You’ll Be Doing:
*
Managing mechanical installations across heating, ventilation, and AC systems on high-value build projects
*
Leading and motivating project teams, including engineers, techs, and subcontractors
*
Driving project planning, procurement, cost control, and resourcing
*
Acting as the key client point of contact – clear communication and transparency is essential
*
Maintaining excellent health & safety culture and ensuring regulatory compliance (CDM, ISO 9001/14001)
*
Conducting site visits, quality checks, and performance reviews
*
Mentoring junior team members including apprentices – helping to grow the future of the business
*
Reporting to internal directors and senior management on project progress, issues, and financials
What We’re Looking For:
*
Proven experience managing mechanical/HVAC packages on large-scale construction projects
*
Strong technical understanding of HVAC systems and mechanical services
*
Excellent organisational, leadership, and client-facing skills
*
Experience with project management tools (Microsoft Project essential; Procore beneficial)
*
Relevant qualifications in Mechanical Engineering (Degree / HND / equivalent)
*
CSCS, and ideally SMSTS/SSSTS
*
Based in or willing to travel across London and Reading – with some flexibility to support UK-wide projects
What’s On Offer:
*
Competitive salary tailored to experience
*
25 days holiday + bank holidays
*
Private health insurance
*
Pension scheme
*
Cycle to work scheme
*
Supportive team culture with regular career development opportunities
*
Exposure to a diverse range of high-profile, technically interesting projects
If you’re a seasoned mechanical PM who takes pride in high-quality delivery, enjoys client-facing roles, and wants to be part of a forward-thinking team at the top of their game, this could be a fantastic next step.
