Mechanical Inspector – Precision Engineering
📍 Location: Cambridgeshire
💷 Salary: £36,000 – £40,000 (DOE) + Overtime + Benefits

Are you a detail-driven Mechanical Inspector with a passion for precision engineering?
We’re working with a leading UK-based manufacturer to find an experienced Mechanical Inspector to join their high-performing team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on complex, high-tolerance components for automotive, motorsport, and aerospace applications.
🔧 The Role
You’ll be responsible for the inspection of precision machined components, ensuring they meet strict quality standards and customer specifications. This includes:
*
Performing First Off, in-process, and final inspection using a variety of manual measurement tools
*
Interpreting and working from detailed engineering drawings
*
Supporting FAIR, ISIR, and PPAP processes
*
Working closely with production and quality teams to resolve issues and improve processes
*
Contributing to continuous improvement of quality standards and practices
✅ What You’ll Need
*
Proven experience in a similar inspection or quality assurance role within a precision engineering or CNC environment
*
Proficient in using manual measuring equipment (micrometers, verniers, height gauges, etc.)
*
Strong understanding of engineering drawings and tolerances (GD&T knowledge is a plus)
*
Familiarity with ISO 9001 and ideally IATF 16949 standards
*
Experience with PPAP, ISIR or FAIR reports is advantageous
*
A methodical mindset, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or within a team
