Job Title: Mechanical Inspector

Working hours: . 39 hours per week, Monday to Thursday 7am to 4pm (30 minutes unpaid for lunch), Friday 7.30am to 12.30pm
Rate: £17-£21ph dependant on experience with overtime available
AMLR Manufacturing & Engineering recruitment services have partnered with a leading Aerospace Manufacturer based in Basildon Essex who are seeking a dedicated and skilled mechanical inspector to join their team.
Responsibilities for the Mechanical Inspector:
* Perform first-off inspections of machined components and complex assemblies against engineering drawings and CAD data
* Carry out final inspections and complete AS9100 First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) as required
* Document product conformity to internal and customer quality standards
* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of quality assurance procedures applicable to inspection and manufacturing operations
* Identify and document non-conforming products in line with internal and/or customer requirements
* Ensure all inspection tooling used as media of acceptance is calibrated in accordance with applicable standards
* Oversee correct handling, identification, and traceability of materials throughout the manufacturing process
* Support production by performing all Quality Control Inspector functions as required by workload or schedule demands
Person specifications for the Mechanical Inspector:
Sound understanding of the inspection of machined parts using a variety of measurement techniques, including:
* Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM)
* Vision CMM systems
* Shadow Graphs (optical comparators)
Strong knowledge of:
* Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
* Statistical Process Control (SPC)
* ISO 9001 quality management system requirements
Ideally experienced with CMM software such as:
* PC-DMIS
* Zeiss Calypso
Previous machining shop experience, particularly with:
* Aluminium alloys
* Steel
* Titanium
Proficient in the use of basic inspection tools (e.g., micrometers, verniers, height gauges)
Ability to evaluate and verify inspection results using first principles
