Job Description

Mechanical Project Manager – Data Centres Norway (Site-Based) Our client is a leading developer of hyperscale data centres and is seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to join their growing delivery team in Norway. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in delivering cutting-edge, mission-critical infrastructure, managing the mechanical delivery of large-scale data centre projects from design through to commissioning and handover. Working on the client side, you will be responsible for ensuring all mechanical systems are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards, while collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams throughout the project lifecycle. The Role As Mechanical Project Manager, you will take ownership of the mechanical packages across complex hyperscale data centre developments. You will oversee technical delivery, coordinate stakeholders and ensure all mechanical installations meet programme, budget and performance requirements. Key Responsibilities Oversee all mechanical construction activities, ensuring works are delivered in accordance with design specifications, project programmes and technical standards. Ensure compliance with local mechanical codes, statutory regulations, industry standards and health and safety requirements applicable to the project. Review and validate mechanical design drawings, technical submittals and construction documentation to ensure constructability and compliance. Coordinate the integration of mechanical systems with electrical, controls and civil, structural and architectural (CSA) disciplines. Monitor project progress, identify risks and contribute to recovery planning where required, providing clear reporting across all mechanical packages. Manage quality assurance processes, inspections, testing and commissioning activities throughout the project lifecycle. Support Integrated Systems Testing (IST), ensuring all mechanical systems are fully verified, documented and handed over successfully. Lead regular coordination meetings with contractors, consultants and internal stakeholders to resolve technical issues and maintain project alignment. Promote a culture of health and safety, technical excellence and continuous improvement across all project activities. About You To be successful in this role, you will have: A minimum of seven years' experience managing mechanical delivery on large-scale construction projects, ideally within data centres or other mission-critical environments. A degree or recognised qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline. Strong technical knowledge of HVAC systems, cooling infrastructure, mechanical plant and associated controls. Experience of AI/HPC data centre cooling technologies, including Direct-to-Chip (DTC), Thermal Control Systems (TCS) and Coolant Distribution Units (CDUs), would be highly advantageous. Proven experience coordinating mechanical design, installation, commissioning and project delivery. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build strong working relationships across multidisciplinary teams. Experience using project reporting and scheduling software. Fluency in English; Norwegian language skills would be advantageous. Previous experience working on Norwegian construction projects or within Norwegian regulatory environments is desirable. Willingness to be site-based in Norway for the duration of the project.
