Mechanical Project Manager – Data Centre Project (Berkshire / London) Project Location: Slough / London Salary: irca £85,000 plus package, dependent on experience Benefits: Travel allowance, private healthcare, dental plan, life insurance, pension scheme, 25 days annual leave (+ bank holidays), employee ownership trust after 12 months, training & development opportunities Overview 4Site are currently seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to join a leading Principal Contractor on a live Data Centre project in Slough. This is an exciting opportunity for a driven and technically competent professional with prior experience working in critical environments, such as data centres, hospitals, life science facilities, or banking environments. The role will involve overseeing mechanical packages through all project stages from design and planning to execution and commissioning. While project delivery will be your primary focus, commercial oversight, quality assurance and client relationship management are equally critical components of the role. Key Responsibilities * Lead mechanical project delivery while taking commercial ownership of your package. * Act as the main point of contact for clients, ensuring effective communication and professional representation at all times. * Collaborate with designers (internal and external), architects, commercial teams, sub-contractors, manufacturers and specialist suppliers. * Ensure high standards of Health & Safety, Environmental and Quality compliance throughout the project lifecycle. * Drive a culture of high-quality installation and a meticulous attention to detail. * Chair meetings confidently, producing accurate records of discussions, actions and deadlines. * Understand and interpret technical specifications, drawings and client requirements. * Manage risk and identify solutions during the design, delivery and commissioning phases (RIBA Stages). * Support tender processes, ensuring timely and high-standard submissions, even if not directly responsible for pricing. * Oversee sequencing of works, coordinate packages and drive progress against the programme. * Produce regular project reports including programme updates and progress metrics. * Proactively manage RFIs, Technical Submittals, TQs and ensure timely closure of project actions. * Exhibit sound commercial awareness, ensuring the project remains financially viable and risks are mitigated. * Navigate JCT contracts and support the Quantity Surveying team in managing variations and delay notifications. * Maintain excellent relationships with stakeholders while being assertive and decisive when needed. * Understand the principles of CDM Regulations and demonstrate knowledge of Principal Designer and Principal Contractor responsibilities. Required Experience & Skills * Proven experience in a Mechanical Project Manager role within critical or live environments (Data Centres, Hospitals, Banks, Life Sciences, etc.). * Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills. * Ability to manage project risk, programme, cost and quality effectively. * Sound technical knowledge of mechanical systems and the ability to read/interpret M&E drawings and specs. * Familiarity with JCT contract management. * Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise and delegate. * Commercially aware with the ability to liaise with QSs and manage contractual obligations. * High standards of personal presentation and professionalism. * Strong knowledge of Health & Safety practices and construction legislation. * A collaborative, team-oriented mindset with a willingness to mentor others.
