The Role We’re looking for a Mechanical Services Design Engineer to join our team. Reporting to the Mechanical Services Director, this role involves full project engagement, working on the design of HVAC systems and above-ground water and waste services. This position serves as a stepping stone to a Pre-Contracts Manager role. You will receive extensive support and training throughout your journey toward Pre-Contract Management. You'll be responsible for producing technical designs, coordinating with wider project teams, and supporting the delivery of practical, regulation-compliant building services solutions. What You’ll Be Doing 📐 Producing mechanical and public health layouts, schematics and detailed designs using AutoCAD and Revit 📄 Creating equipment schedules (e.g. FCUs, AHUs, HRUs, grilles, attenuators, fire dampers etc) 🌡 Completing fresh air and load mapping calculations using IES or similar software 🧮 Sizing ductwork and pipework accurately 📊 Preparing technical submissions and reports using MS Office 🛠 Selecting mechanical equipment and plant 📏 Coordinating designs with existing services, building constraints and all related trades 🔍 Undertaking site surveys and ensuring no adverse impact on existing systems 🔧 Ensuring all designs meet building regulations, health and safety requirements and best practice 👥 Supporting junior engineers and maintaining high quality design standards What We’re Looking For ✅ Minimum 5 years’ experience in mechanical and public health services design ✅ Degree in mechanical or building services engineering ✅ Proficient in AutoCAD; confident using MS Office ✅ Knowledge of thermal dynamics and experience with IES or similar software ✅ Good understanding of commercial design and build fit-out projects ✅ Revit and AutoCAD MEP experience desirable ✅ Self-motivated, organised and able to prioritise in a fast-paced environment Why Join Us? 🌴 Generous holiday package with 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays, Christmas period off and every last working Friday off each month with pay day ☕ On-site coffee shop – Free breakfast, tea, coffee and fresh fruit all day 💰 Salary sacrifice pension scheme – Maris Contracts contributes 15% savings to your pension scheme 🛡️ Life assurance – 3x salary after 12 months’ service 🏥 Employee Assistance Programme – 24/7 online GP service plus mental, financial, and physical wellbeing support
