Mechanical Shift Engineer
Location: Central London
Salary: £48,000 – £50,000
Shift Pattern: Continental – Days and Nights
Alice Rose Recruitment is proud to be representing a global facilities services provider that is seeking an experienced Mechanical Shift Engineer for a flagship site in Central London. This role is critical to maintaining optimal environmental conditions for the building’s infrastructure and involves a mix of planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive works across key M&E systems.
Mechanical Shift Engineer Key Responsibilities:
*
Perform routine PPM on all mechanical plant according to task schedules and asset lists
*
Respond to and resolve reactive maintenance and breakdowns, including fabric and concessionary store issues
*
Fault finding and diagnostics on systems including air conditioning, UPS, generators, and LV systems
*
Oversee and manage subcontractor activities, ensuring all work is completed safely and to specification
*
Operate and manage Permit to Work systems in line with BGIS QHSE procedures
*
Ensure all statutory compliance and health & safety requirements are met across the site
*
Maintain accurate documentation, including method statements, risk assessments, and system updates via Maximo or similar CMMS
*
Maintain site cleanliness, plant room security, and uphold a professional image at all times
*
Contribute to dynamic risk assessments, near miss reporting, and site safety initiatives
Mechanical Shift Engineer Requirements:
*
Qualified Mechanical Engineer with strong commercial building services experience
*
Proven experience working on critical systems, ideally in a high-profile or client-facing environment
*
Good understanding of Health & Safety legislation and safe systems of work
*
Experience using Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (e.g., Maximo)
*
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to act quickly and efficiently in breakdown scenarios
*
Positive, proactive attitude with a commitment to safety and service excellence
