Job Description
Mechanical Site Manager – Hospital Project (East Sussex, 6 Months)
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Site Manager to work on a hospital project based in East Sussex. This is a 6-month freelance contract offering an excellent opportunity to oversee and manage the installation and commissioning of key mechanical systems in a live healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee the day-to-day mechanical works on-site, ensuring delivery is on time, to budget, and to the highest quality.
Supervise and coordinate mechanical subcontractors, ensuring compliance with project specifications and health & safety regulations.
Manage installation, testing, and commissioning of key hospital systems (HVAC, medical gases, hot & cold water, and drainage).
Liaise closely with the Project Manager, client representatives, and consultants to ensure smooth project delivery.
Attend and contribute to site meetings, providing progress updates and addressing risks or issues.
Monitor quality standards and carry out regular inspections, ensuring works meet NHS and HTM standards.
Ensure all site documentation, permits, and H&S records are maintained and up to date.
About You
Proven experience as a Mechanical Site Manager on healthcare, hospital, or large-scale building projects.
Strong knowledge of hospital mechanical services, including compliance with HTM requirements.
Excellent leadership and communication skills with the ability to drive subcontractor performance.
Health & Safety awareness with a valid CSCS card and SMSTS/SSSTS certification.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.

Location: East Sussex
Duration: 6 months (freelance/contract basis)
Start: Immediate / short notice
Rate: Competitive day rate, dependent on experience
