Mechanical Site Supervisor

Location: Site-Based
Contract Type: Subcontract / Self-Employed Preferred – Permanent Employment Considered
Rate / Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

Overview

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Mechanical Site Supervisor to join a busy project delivery team working across a range of new build construction projects.

This is a site-based role responsible for the day-to-day supervision and coordination of mechanical installation works. Working closely with the Mechanical Project Manager, you will ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently, to programme and to the required quality standards.

The successful candidate will have a strong hands-on mechanical background and be confident managing directly employed operatives and subcontractors, planning labour and materials, coordinating with other trades and resolving site issues.

Projects may include:

  * New build residential and apartment developments

  * Purpose-built care homes

  * Commercial new build schemes

Key Responsibilities

  * Supervise and coordinate day-to-day mechanical installation works on site.

  * Manage directly employed operatives and subcontractors.

  * Plan labour, materials and site activities in line with the construction programme.

  * Monitor progress and provide regular updates to the Mechanical Project Manager.

  * Coordinate and manage the ordering and delivery of materials.

  * Ensure installations are completed in accordance with drawings, specifications and relevant industry standards.

  * Carry out quality inspections and manage snagging and remedial works.

  * Identify and resolve technical and installation issues before they impact the programme.

  * Coordinate mechanical works with other trades and the main contractor's site management team.

  * Ensure all works are carried out safely and in accordance with RAMS, health and safety legislation and site requirements.

Requirements

  * Strong practical background in plumbing, heating and mechanical building services.

  * Previous experience supervising mechanical installations on construction projects.

  * Good knowledge of heating, hot and cold water, ventilation and associated mechanical systems.

  * Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications.

  * Strong organisational skills with the ability to effectively plan labour, materials and site activities.

  * Experience managing both directly employed operatives and subcontractors.

  * Full UK driving licence.

Desirable Qualifications

  * NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in Plumbing & Heating, or an equivalent mechanical trade qualification.

  * SSSTS or SMSTS.

  * Relevant CSCS Supervisor Card.

  * Additional plumbing, heating or mechanical services qualifications.

  * Experience working on new build residential, apartment, care home or commercial projects
