Mechanical Supervisor

Northamptonshire

18-Month Contract | £320 per day CIS Sole Trader

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Supervisor to join a major construction project in Northamptonshire on an 18-month contract basis.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established M&E contractor delivering a high-profile project. The successful candidate will have a strong ductwork background, progressing from the tools into supervision, with extensive knowledge of commercial ventilation systems, fire damper installations, and industry compliance standards.

The Role

As Mechanical Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing all mechanical ventilation and ductwork installation activities on site, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

Supervising mechanical and ductwork installation works across the project
Managing site operatives and specialist subcontractors
Coordinating ductwork installations in line with design specifications and programme requirements
Reviewing and managing VCDs (Ventilation Commissioning Documentation)
Overseeing the installation, inspection, and compliance of Fire Dampers
Carrying out quality inspections and site audits
Liaising with project managers, consultants, and other trades on site
Supporting commissioning, testing, and handover activities
Ensuring compliance with all health & safety procedures and industry standards

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have:

Proven experience working as a Mechanical Supervisor on commercial construction projects
Previous hands-on experience as a Ductwork Fitter
Strong knowledge and experience installing Galvanised Commercial Ductwork
A solid background within HVAC and ventilation systems
Experience reviewing and managing VCDs (Ventilation Commissioning Documentation)
Knowledge of Fire Dampers, including installation requirements, testing, and compliance procedures
Strong understanding of TR19 and DW144 standards
Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and installation details
SSSTS or SMSTS
CSCS Card
Relevant mechanical or ductwork qualifications
