Astute's Power team is partnering with a leading Energy from Waste site in the UK to recruit a Mechanical Technician for its site in Milton Keynes.
The Mechanical Technician role comes with a starting salary of £50,000 + benefits package.

Responsibilities and duties of the Mechanical Technician role
Reporting to the Lead Mechanical Technician you will:
Conduct planned and preventative maintenance across all plant technologies, including Mechanical Treatment, Anaerobic Digestion, and Advanced Thermal Treatment.
Support the Lead Mechanical Engineer in ensuring efficient operation and upkeep of mechanical systems.
Perform inspections, PPM checks, and maintenance reports accurately and promptly.
Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues using the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
Carry out maintenance on steam valves, turbines, hydraulic systems, and gas engines.
Maintain high health, safety, and environmental standards across all plant areas.
Deliver team briefings and toolbox talks to ensure knowledge sharing and safety awareness.
Comply with all health, safety, and legislative requirements and company policies.
Contribute to a proactive maintenance strategy using condition monitoring techniques.
Work within a Permit to Work system and ensure accurate documentation such as Safe Systems of Work (SSoW) and Risk Assessments.
Professional qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following:
Relevant mechanical qualification (e.g. NVQ, HNC, or equivalent).
Proven experience in Energy from Waste, Petrochemical, or Power sectors.
Proficiency in at least one specialist area: Coded Welding, Pressure Vessels, Steam Turbines, Gas Systems, or Steam Valve maintenance.
Familiarity with or willingness to train on a Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
Personal skills
Strong safety-first mindset and accountability for actions.
Team-oriented with good communication and interpersonal skills.
Proactive and self-motivated with a continuous improvement attitude.
