We are recruiting on behalf of a specialist SEMH school for a passionate Mechanics Instructor / Teacher to join their dedicated team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced mechanic, motor vehicle instructor, or qualified teacher who is passionate about inspiring young people through practical, vocational learning.
Working with pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, you will help develop confidence, practical skills, and positive futures by delivering engaging motor vehicle and mechanics lessons in a supportive learning environment.
The Role
You will be responsible for planning and delivering high-quality mechanics lessons that are engaging, practical, and tailored to individual learning needs. Working closely with the leadership team, you will help develop the vocational curriculum while creating a safe, positive, and inclusive environment where every pupil has the opportunity to succeed.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan and deliver engaging Mechanics and Motor Vehicle lessons.
* Develop and continuously improve the mechanics curriculum.
* Create an inclusive learning environment that promotes achievement and confidence.
* Differentiate learning to meet a range of abilities and additional needs.
* Assess pupil progress and use feedback to inform future planning.
* Build positive, respectful relationships with pupils while maintaining high expectations.
* Embed literacy, numeracy and ICT skills into practical learning.
* Promote safeguarding, wellbeing, and positive behaviour at all times.
About You
We are looking for someone who has:
* Experience as a Mechanic, Vehicle Technician, Motor Vehicle Instructor, Automotive Tutor or Teacher.
* A genuine passion for helping young people overcome barriers to learning.
* Strong practical knowledge of vehicle maintenance and mechanics.
* Excellent communication and classroom or workshop management skills.
* A resilient, patient and adaptable approach.
* A full UK driving licence (essential).
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is desirable but not essential. Applications from experienced industry professionals looking to move into education are strongly encouraged.
