Job Description

PSR Solutions are currently recruiting for a MEICA Design Manager based in North London. This will be working for a Tier 1 contractor within the Civils industry. Purpose of the Role To lead the technical delivery of clean water, wastewater, and biosolid infrastructure design solutions in alignment with project schedules, budgets, and regulatory requirements. This includes management of internal and external design teams, compliance oversight, and active support throughout the full project lifecycle. Core Responsibilities Technical Delivery Ownership of end-to-end engineering design output: concept to detailed design. Ensure compliance with statutory, customer, and internal standards. Deliver robust, operable, and maintainable asset designs. Evaluate, verify, and improve design quality (drawings, specifications, calculations). Project & Team Management Lead multi-disciplinary design teams (internal + consultants). Budget and schedule management for design elements. Manage consultant contracts, ensuring deliverables and performance. Stakeholder Engagement Collaborate with Engineering Managers, PMs, and clients. Support procurement with technical input and evaluation. Engage with temporary works designers and understand associated responsibilities. Governance & Compliance Ensure adherence to Health & Safety legislation. Support audits and promote a culture of safety and integrity. Act as a role model for professional conduct and company values. Key Skills & Attributes Proven ability to lead technical design teams and manage large-scale infrastructure projects. Strong working knowledge of: Foul and potable water systems BIM and common data environments Design compliance and risk management Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills. Strong problem-solving with an eye for design risk and opportunity. Essential Qualifications & Experience Minimum Experience: 10+ years in design/engineering leadership roles. Education: Degree/HNC in Civil Engineering or equivalent. Professional Status: Chartered or Incorporated Engineer (or working towards). Technical Expertise: Wastewater systems, water mains, BIM environments. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Design quality and compliance Project design delivery to budget/schedule Risk mitigation and opportunity identification Effective use of design trackers and planning tools Positive client and supply chain relationships Cultural Fit & Values The company emphasizes integrity, respect, teamwork, and continuous improvement, aligning with their long-standing people-centric approach.
