A leading specialist engineering contractor within the UK water and wastewater sector is looking to appoint an experienced MEICA Project Manager to manage the successful delivery of mechanical and electrical projects across the UK.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Project Manager with a strong MEICA/M&E background to take responsibility for projects from contract award through to completion and handover. The role combines project management, commercial awareness, client liaison, technical coordination and site delivery.
The Role
As MEICA Project Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the required quality standards.
Your responsibilities will include:
Lead and manage MEICA projects from contract award through to completion and handover.
Develop and manage project programmes, budgets, resource plans and delivery strategies.
Coordinate site activities with supervisors, engineers, subcontractors and wider project teams.
Ensure projects comply with WIMES specifications, BS 7671, client standards and statutory requirements.
Prepare, review and manage project documentation, including RAMS, progress reports and quality records.
Undertake regular site visits to monitor progress, resolve issues and ensure safety and quality standards are maintained.
Act as the main point of contact for clients, developing strong and professional working relationships.
Manage procurement of materials, plant, equipment and subcontract services.
Monitor project costs, financial performance and commercial risks.
Identify and manage project risks, implementing appropriate mitigation strategies.
Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental legislation and promote a strong safety culture.
Coordinate testing, commissioning and final project handover.
Lead and manage multidisciplinary teams to ensure successful project delivery.
Provide regular reporting on programme, costs, resources, risks and project performance.
About You
The successful candidate will ideally have:
Significant project management experience within the water, wastewater, utilities or heavy engineering sectors.
A proven track record of delivering construction, installation, refurbishment or MEICA projects.
Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, including pumps, MCCs, pipework and instrumentation.
Experience working with WIMES specifications and water industry client standards.
Strong commercial awareness, financial management and contract management skills.
Experience managing multiple projects and competing priorities.
Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
Strong client-facing experience with the ability to build effective working relationships.
A proactive, organised and solution-focused approach.
A strong commitment to health, safety, quality and successful project delivery.
Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to sites and client meetings across the UK.
Essential Qualifications
* Degree, HNC or HND in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent relevant experience.
* Full UK driving licence.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
* APM, PRINCE2 or equivalent project management qualification.
* SMSTS or equivalent site safety qualification.
* EUSR Water Hygiene.
* Confined Space training.
* Experience using project planning software such as MS Project or Primavera P6.
* Experience managing multidisciplinary M&E/MEICA teams.
