A supportive specialist school in Trowbridge is seeking a compassionate and motivated Mental Health Support Worker to work with children who may have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, anxiety, emotional regulation difficulties and other additional learning needs. As a Mental Health Support Worker, you will provide individualised support to help children manage their emotions, develop resilience, build confidence and overcome barriers that may affect their learning and wellbeing. The Role As a Mental Health Support Worker, you will provide consistent emotional and pastoral support while helping children develop practical strategies to manage their mental health and everyday challenges. Your responsibilities will include: Providing 1:1 and small-group support to children with emotional and mental health needs. Building positive, trusting relationships with children and becoming a consistent source of support. Helping children recognise, communicate and understand their emotions. Supporting children to develop emotional regulation and healthy coping strategies. Encouraging confidence, self-esteem, resilience and independence. Supporting children who may experience anxiety, emotional distress or difficulties managing behaviour. Helping children re-engage with learning following periods of emotional or behavioural difficulty. Supporting personalised wellbeing, learning and behaviour strategies. Promoting positive communication and healthy social interactions. About You We are looking for a Mental Health Support Worker who is: Compassionate, patient and emotionally resilient. Genuinely interested in children's mental health and emotional wellbeing. Confident building positive professional relationships with children. Calm and consistent when supporting children through challenging emotional situations. Understanding of, or willing to learn about, SEMH, Autism, ADHD, anxiety and emotional regulation. A strong communicator with excellent listening and relationship-building skills. Proactive, reliable and able to adapt their approach to individual children's needs.Psychology graduates and candidates interested in Educational Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Counselling, Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Therapy, CAMHS or Teaching are particularly encouraged to apply.
