Protocol Education is currently recruiting on behalf of a supportive and inclusive Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Southend, and we’re looking for compassionate and resilient individuals to join the team as a Learning Support Assistant / Teaching Assistant. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with children who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. You’ll play a vital role in helping them engage with their learning and feel supported throughout the school day. What we’re looking for: A genuine passion for working with children and young people with special educational needs A calm, nurturing and positive approach to behaviour and learning The ability to build strong, trusting relationships with students Resilience, patience and adaptability — no two days are the same! Previous experience in education, social care, or personal experience supporting SEND is a bonus — but not essential! The role: Full-time, long-term position (Monday to Friday, 8:30am–3:30pm) Based in a PRU setting in Southend-on-Sea Supporting students with SEMH needs on a 1:1 and small group basis Working alongside a dedicated and friendly staff team If you’re enthusiastic, empathetic and ready to make a real impact, we’d love to hear from you.
