The Role As a Mental Health Teaching Assistant, you will provide individualised support throughout the school day, helping children manage their emotions, develop positive coping strategies and feel more confident within their learning environment. Your responsibilities will include: Providing one-to-one and small-group support to children throughout the school day. Helping children understand and manage their emotions in a calm and supportive way. Encouraging resilience, self-confidence and positive emotional development. Supporting children with anxiety, Autism, SEMH needs and other additional requirements. Using agreed strategies to encourage positive behaviour and emotional regulation. Helping children engage with lessons and overcome barriers that may affect their learning. Supporting the development of communication, social and independent living skills. Building positive and trusting relationships with children and providing consistent encouragement. Working closely with teachers, therapists, psychologists and SEN professionals to support individual needs. Helping to maintain a safe, welcoming and inclusive classroom environment. Following safeguarding procedures and contributing to the overall wellbeing and development of each child. About You We are looking for someone who is empathetic, patient, calm and resilient, with a genuine interest in children's mental health and emotional wellbeing. Previous experience in education, care or support work can be beneficial, but this role may also suit graduates and individuals looking to gain their first experience within a specialist educational environment. You should be confident building relationships with children and able to remain calm and consistent when supporting children who may experience emotional or behavioural difficulties. This position would be particularly valuable for those considering future careers in: Clinical Psychology Educational Psychology Counselling Social Work Occupational Therapy Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) Teaching Special Educational Needs (SEN) Why Apply? £85-£110 per day, depending on experience.
