About the Role
As a Mental Health Teaching Assistant, you'll be part of a supportive and passionate team helping young people overcome emotional, behavioural, and mental health challenges. You'll work closely with both students and staff to create a nurturing, trauma-informed learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver 1:1 and small-group support to students with SEMH needs
Help implement personalised behaviour and emotional support plans
Encourage positive coping strategies, confidence, and emotional regulation
Support classroom inclusion and engagement for all students
Liaise with teachers, parents, and external agencies to monitor progres
Contribute to a school-wide ethos of care, structure, and mental wellbeing
What We're Looking For
Experience as a SEMH Teaching Assistant or background in supporting vulnerable children
Psychology, Criminology, or related degree preferred
A passion for mental health, inclusion, and making a lasting impact
Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively
Emotional resilience, empathy, and patience in challenging situations
Ability to commute to Stevenage
A commitment to long-term development in education or therapeutic work
