Are you passionate about supporting young people's mental health and emotional wellbeing? We're looking for a caring, resilient, and proactive Mental Health Teaching Assistant to join a specialist secondary school in Reading.
About the Role:
You'll work closely with students aged 11-16 who face social, emotional, and mental health challenges. Your role will involve supporting students in class, mentoring one-to-one, and helping them develop the confidence, resilience, and coping skills they need to thrive both in and out of school.
What You'll Be Doing:
✨ Providing one-to-one and small group support focused on emotional regulation and mental wellbeing
✨ Assisting with classroom learning, behaviour management and pastoral care
✨ Building trusting, positive relationships with students and acting as a role model
✨ Working alongside teachers, pastoral leads and therapeutic staff to deliver tailored support

About You:
✅ Patient, compassionate and able to stay calm in challenging situations
✅ Strong communication skills and a natural ability to build rapport with young people
✅ Experience working with young people or in a mental health/SEN setting (desirable but not essential)
✅ Available to start full-time ASAP
