Mental Health Mentor – Specialist SEND Provision Location: Upper Norwood Start Date: September 2026 Contract: Full-Time Are you passionate about supporting children with mental health difficulties and additional needs? TeacherActive is proud to be working with a specialist provision within a primary school in Upper Norwood, who are looking to appoint a dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Mentor to join their team. The school is continuing to develop and grow, and is seeking team members who are willing to go the extra mile to support its pupils and contribute positively to the wider school community. The successful candidate will work closely with pupils who require specialist support with their emotional wellbeing, mental health, behaviour, and engagement in education. You will provide consistent 1:1 and small-group support, helping pupils develop emotional regulation, confidence, independence, and positive coping strategies. Personal care is required as part of this role. The successful Mental Health Mentor will have: Experience supporting children or young people with mental health difficulties, SEMH, SEND, or challenging behaviour A calm, patient, and nurturing approach The ability to build strong, trusting relationships with vulnerable pupils Experience supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour A genuine passion for helping children overcome barriers to learning Confidence providing personal care when required A hardworking, resilient, and dedicated attitude Excellent communication and teamwork skills Experience within a school or specialist setting is desirable but not essential. We are particularly keen to hear from candidates with experience in mental health, care, youth work, support work, counselling, psychology, or similar settings.
