Are you a nurturing, patient, and resilient individual with a passion for supporting young people? We are looking for a Mentor to work one-to-one with a Year 9 student in Hedge End who is currently experiencing Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA).
This is a unique opportunity to make a lasting impact on a young person's life. The student is currently disengaged from school due to EBSA and requires a calm, consistent, and encouraging presence to help them:
Build trusting relationships
Develop self-confidence and emotional resilience
Reconnect with learning and prepare for reintegration into full-time educationYou'll work in a supportive, flexible environment with the autonomy to tailor your approach to the student's needs.
As a Mentor you will:
Transporting Students to and from home/school/activities
Build trusting, supportive relationships with assigned students
Encourage engagement with school and programme activities
Support social-emotional development and well-being
Provide consistent, reliable mentorship tailored to individual needs
Collaborate with schools and programme staff to monitor progressAbout you:
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Empathy, patience, and a non-judgemental attitude
Experience working with young people (preferred but not essential)
Ability to commit to regular mentoring sessions
A genuine desire to make a positive impactPosition - Mentor
Contract or position start date - ASAP
Contract or position end date (if applicable) - N/A
Full time/part-time - Dependent on candidate availability.
Hours - Monday to Friday
Essential & Desirable Qualifications:
A background in youth work/ support work is highly desirable
Minimum of 1 year of experience working within UK schools
Experience working with learners with Special Educational Needs (SEN)/ SEMH needs is highly desirable.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Enthusiasm, compassion and positivity are essential, along with a calm natureTo be eligible for this role through Prospero teaching, you must:
Hold right to work in the UK
Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
Provide references upon request
Possess up to date Safeguarding Training (or a willingness to undertake this)
