Join our dedicated team and make a real difference in the lives of children and young people aged 4-18 across Portsmouth.
About the Role:
We are looking for compassionate, reliable, and proactive Mentors to support young people with a range of additional needs including:
SEN (Special Educational Needs)
SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health)
PEX (Permanent Exclusion)
EBSA (Emotionally Based School Avoidance)
Other complex needsAs a Mentor, you will help young people:
Build confidence and self-esteem
Reengage with education and learning
Develop and maintain positive relationships with trusted adults
Navigate challenges and celebrate progressAbout you:
Experience working with children and young people (formal or informal)
Understanding of SEN, SEMH, and trauma-informed approaches
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Patience, empathy, and resilience
Ability to work independently and as part of a supportive teamPosition - Mentor
Contract or position start date - ASAP
Contract or position end date (if applicable) - N/A
Full time/part-time - Both
Hours - Monday to Friday- Flexible dates and timings
Essential & Desirable Qualifications:
Minimum of 1 year of experience working with young people
Trauma-informed- desirable
To be eligible for this role through Prospero teaching, you must:
Hold right to work in the UK
Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
Provide references upon request
Possess up to date Safeguarding Training (or a willingness to undertake this)Before You Apply
