Prospero Teaching a fantastic Mentor to provide consistent, positive support to a 9-year-old child who is currently finding the classroom environment challenging and is at risk of permanent exclusion (PEX). The mentor will help build the child's confidence, self-esteem, and engagement through activities that reflect their interests-particularly castles, kings and queens, and painting. A strong, trusting relationship with a positive adult role model is key to helping this child make progress.
As a Mentor, you will:
Establish a safe, trusting, and positive relationship with the child.
Plan and deliver engaging sessions based on the child's interests (e.g., castle-themed art projects, storytelling, creative play).
Support the child's emotional well being and social development.
Encourage self-expression and confidence through creative and imaginative activities.
Provide a calm and consistent presence to help the child regulate and feel secure.
About you:
Essential:
Experience working with children, particularly those with SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) needs.
Creative and imaginative approach to engagement.
Strong communication, patience, and empathy.
Ability to commit to regular weekly sessions.
Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).Desirable:
Knowledge of trauma-informed or therapeutic approaches.
Experience in mentoring, youth work, youth support, 1:1 roles or experience within UK schools.Position -Mentor

Essential & Desirable Qualifications:
Minimum of 1 year of experience working with young people
Background in Youth Work, UK schools, Mentoring or other related roles.
Experience of working with learners with SENTo be eligible for this role through Prospero teaching, you must:
Hold right to work in the UK
Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
Provide references upon request
