MEP Commissioning Manager – Data Centres & Infrastructure
London & Home Counties | £75,000–£85,000 + Car Allowance + Travel + Benefits
We’re working with a leading contractor delivering high-spec data centre and film studio projects across the UK. Right now, they’re looking for a skilled MEP Commissioning Manager – ideally with a mechanical bias. You'll be part of a high-performing team bringing complex systems online in some of the most technically demanding environments in the sector.
The Role
As Commissioning Manager, you’ll take ownership of all MEP commissioning activities on site – from strategy through to final sign-off. You’ll coordinate across technical teams, subcontractors, vendors, and client stakeholders to ensure every system is brought online safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with project and regulatory standards.
You’ll lead commissioning meetings, manage documentation and programme alignment, and maintain close oversight of site-based commissioning teams. You'll also be involved in producing and executing detailed commissioning plans covering mechanical and electrical packages, including:
* Mechanical cooling, AHUs, pipework, BMS
* Electrical infrastructure (LV/HV switchboards, UPS systems)
* Fire protection, containment, comms, and controls systems
Your Responsibilities
In this role, you’ll be responsible for leading and managing the full commissioning process, from pre-start reviews right through to final handover. You’ll develop and maintain commissioning strategies and planning documentation, coordinating all levels of testing activities – including FAT, SAT, and IST – to ensure systems are brought online effectively and safely. Progress will be tracked and reported using visual documentation and detailed issue logs, while close collaboration with subcontractors and package leads will be essential to keep everything aligned with the programme. You’ll attend and chair both internal and client-facing commissioning meetings, upholding the highest standards of health, safety, and quality throughout. Additionally, you’ll support the preparation of O&M documentation and handover packs, manage on-site commissioning resources, and oversee QA/QC and defect resolution to ensure seamless project completion.
What We’re Looking For
We’re open to candidates from both mechanical and M&E commissioning backgrounds, especially those with experience on complex or live critical projects such as:
* Data centres
* Laboratories / pharmaceutical environments
* Film studios / media infrastructure
* Hospitals or high-spec commercial buildings
You’ll also need:
* ONC, HNC, or Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Building Services Engineering
* Strong commissioning management experience across full MEP packages
* Excellent understanding of commissioning processes, health & safety, and QA standards
* SMSTS or IOSH
* CSCS card relevant to your role
* First Aid trained
* Full UK driving licence
* Comfortable with occasional travel (projects also in Cheltenham and Manchester – all costs covered)
What’s On Offer
* £75,000 – £85,000 base salary (DOE)
* £5,500 car allowance
* Travel fully expensed
* 25 days holiday + 8 bank holidays
* 5% employer pension contribution
* Perkbox platform & access to training/upskilling
* Long-term project pipeline across data centre and secure environments
