Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly organised and proactive Operations Stores Manager to lead the setup, operation, and management of all materials, tools, storage and delivery processes across all of Gloster MEP’s London based construction projects. This newly created role will standardise how M&E materials are received, stored, tracked and distributed, while also implementing a live inventory system and training storemen and labour staff. Once sites are established, the role transitions into a multi-project management position overseeing Stores functions across all active M&E projects to ensure accuracy, compliance and efficiency.
Duties include but are not limited to:
* Establish and manage site stores for M&E projects, including secure storage, racking, laydown plans, segregation zones, signage and controlled access.
* Implement and maintain a live inventory tracking system for all M&E materials, consumables, tools and plant, providing accurate real-time reporting.
* Introduce and enforce robust booking-in and signing-out procedures to maintain full traceability of deliveries, stock, tools and specialist equipment.
* Train, support and supervise storemen and labourers on stores processes, material handling and the M&E inventory system.
* Oversee stores operations across multiple M&E sites, carrying out audits, compliance checks and stock accuracy reviews.
* Coordinate closely with procurement, site managers, project managers, suppliers and client teams regarding delivery schedules, call-offs and material planning.
* Produce weekly stores reports including stock levels, delivery updates, issues, shortages and forward forecasts.
* Ensure all stores and logistics activities meet strict Health & Safety, manual handling, COSHH and safe-storage requirements.
Required skills:
* Excellent verbal and written communication
* Previous experience as a Warehouse Manager / Supervisor in an Electrical or Mechanical wholesaler or similar industrial environment.
* Strong understanding of M&E materials, components, fixings, tools and plant.
* Experience implementing or operating stock control systems and inventory tracking software.
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to build structured stores and logistics systems from scratch.
* Confident leader with the ability to train, guide and supervise storemen and labourers.
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with project teams, suppliers, procurement and senior management.
* Willing and able to travel to various London-based project sites as required
* Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and comfortable using tablets for digital reporting.
* Calm under pressure, proactive and detail-focused.
* Highly organised with strong attention to detail.
