An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled and experienced Metallurgical/Materials Engineer to join a leading team in Peterborough. This is a 12-month rolling contract with a competitive pay rate.
The Role
You will be a key member of the team, providing materials engineering support to UK facilities and investigating a wide range of materials across multiple applications. This is a highly technical role that requires you to build collaborative partnerships with both internal and external stakeholders.
Key responsibilities will include:
Resolving design and manufacturing issues to ensure product quality and readiness.
Implementing and improving testing, development, and validation processes.
Participating in the adoption of new technologies and processes to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance quality.
Providing technical guidance and insights to various teams and departments.
Identifying and addressing metallurgical and manufacturing defects.About You
The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of experience, with a background in metallurgy, preferably within the steel industry. You must have experience working in a materials laboratory.
Essential Requirements:
A degree in Materials Science/Metallurgy or extensive practical working experience in a materials laboratory.
Experience with metallurgical/materials evaluation of new products.
Strong communication skills with the ability to convey technical information to both technical and non-technical colleagues.
Experience in providing technical guidance on product and process maintenance.
Ability to identify metallurgical/materials manufacturing defects and recommend process improvements.
Experience of working in an ISO17025 accredited laboratoryBenefits:
This is a full-time role working 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
Competitive pay rates of £25.30 - £27.30 per hour.
