Job Description

As an individual and working as part of a team, support the production of finished drinks in a safe and compliant way to required quality standards. Provide effective day to day management of microbiological laboratory and work to continuously improve the plant hygiene standards. Challenge deviations from standards at every opportunity; contributing to a team culture of continuous improvement and unrelenting pursuit of excellence. To work to and comply with all set Standards, Policies and Procedures. Key Responsibility Health and Safety · Maintain a Health and Safety culture within Quality to deliver best practises in Site Safety, while proactively contributing to all area/department Health & Safety Initiatives · Work with team leaders and site management to identify and eliminate Health & Safety risks to all staff · Ensure that your personal Behaviours demonstrate a zero tolerance to all Health & Safety Issues within your Department/Area Quality · Act as a role model for all your colleagues by continually complying with the standards · Escalate any potential issues that pose a risk to Food Safety or Product Quality to Site Management · Follow SOP’s and comply with the requirements in order to deliver GMP, to ensure there are no quality deficiencies · Update and maintain quality records to ensure the site is compliant with all relevant regulatory and third party standards. · Enable the site to be “Always Audit Ready” by contributing to a culture of compliance where: o Manufacturing GMP Standards are always maintained. o Manufacturing records are accurately completed in real time to facilitate actions that allow the approval of documentation as required. o Processes and procedures, including on line/in-process quality checks are followed rigorously to deliver consistent quality product · Championing the continuous improvement of hygiene standards across the whole site, collaborating with colleagues to implement effectively People · Adhere to the site ‘Respect & Dignity Charter’ in your everyday engagement with all staff ensuring your core behaviours match site expectations o Ensure your behaviours are aligned to Company Policies and Procedures o Lead by example – be a role model to your colleagues on your behaviours o Manage your time and attendance with current Company Policies Delivery · Contribute to delivering the requirements of: H&S, Quality, People, Delivery and Cost · Monitoring the sites strict microbiological requirements for finished product and plant hygiene. · Managing the release of finished product in accordance with internal procedures · Investigate key customer/consumer complaints to determine root cause and contribute to subsequent corrective actions · Work collaboratively with all areas of the manufacturing process to proactively raise/resolve issues that arise · Manage the maintenance and effectiveness of microbiological laboratory including liaising with third parties where needed for servicing and external testing. · Manage compliance to external laboratory standards reviewing and updating relevant procedures documented in the Laboratory Manual where applicable · Manage any non-conformity driven from external laboratory audits making sure all actions are closed out, training is provided and communicated where required Cost · Effectively manage the use of lab consumables to enable spend within the department to fall in line with the quality budget · Active involvement in all initiatives relating to performance improvement on site Continuous Improvement · As and when required, play a proactive role in Lean Manufacturing / Continuous Improvement initiatives within your Department/Area · Support and use work standardisation, visual management and other aspects of the CI System in your day to day activities · Embrace improvement initiatives General · Deliver the Site KPIs · Deliver agreed objectives on time · Additional duties as and when required that are relevant to the department and/or the Site Experience Required · Educated to degree standard or equivalent in Food Science or Microbiology. · Able to demonstrate a good understanding of soft drinks microbiology and the types of organisms of concern · Detailed knowledge of appropriate cleaning methods to eradicate different types of organisms · Clear understanding of how to identify potential causes of contamination to the plant and how to reduce these via cleaning and other methods · Demonstrable experience of working with SOP’s and implementing tight document control. · Demonstrable experience of carrying out microbiological and chemical testing · Knowledge of a drinks manufacturing operation ideal Personal Attributes · Good attention to detail · Strong communication skills · Self-driven · Positive & proactive approach · Organised · Flexible · Results orientated · Driven by continuous improvement · Curious, willing to challenge appropriately
