Job Description

Mid-Weight Interior Designer Salary: £65,000-£85,000 (DOE) Location: Central London (Hybrid) Sector: Design & Build / Workplace / Interiors The Opportunity We're seeking a technically strong, client-facing Interior Designer to join a market-leading design & build team delivering innovative, high-spec environments across commercial, education, and science sectors. This is a pivotal role for a designer who can combine creativity with technical and commercial understanding. You'll take full ownership of projects from concept through delivery - developing design intent, producing coordinated drawing packs, identifying risks early, and ensuring every element is buildable, compliant, and aligned with client vision. For the right individual, this offers a clear route toward Design Director - ideal for someone ready to take the next step in their career within a fast-paced, high-calibre D&B environment. Key Responsibilities Develop and present creative, intelligent design concepts from brief through completion. Produce fully coordinated technical drawing packages using AutoCAD and Revit to the highest standard. Review and challenge design information - identifying risks in buildability, compliance, and coordination before they impact programme or cost. Work collaboratively with preconstruction, commercial, and delivery teams to align design intent with budget and build strategy. Attend client meetings and presentations, confidently articulating design rationale and technical considerations. Lead material, finishes, and FF&E selections to balance aesthetics, functionality, and performance. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of building regulations, sustainability standards, and health & safety compliance. Mentor junior designers and contribute to studio culture and creative direction. About You Degree-qualified in Interior Design, Architecture, or related discipline. 5-10 years' experience within D&B, architectural, or interior design studios (commercial or education projects preferred). Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit (essential) Adobe Creative Suite and SketchUp desirable. Demonstrates strong technical understanding of detailing, construction, and compliance. Skilled in identifying and mitigating design and coordination risks early in the process. Highly presentable with excellent communication and client-facing skills. Commercially aware, confident, and proactive - comfortable managing multiple fast-track projects simultaneously. Driven, polished, and ambitious - the type of designer who wants to lead, not follow. Why This Role? You'll join a design-led, commercially astute environment where designers are trusted to own the process. This is an opportunity to deliver work at the very top of the D&B sector - working closely with clients, pushing creative boundaries, and growing into a leadership role within a business that sets the industry benchmark.
