Mobile HGV Technician
Barking
Our client, a recovery and fleet support company, is seeking for a Mobile HGV Technician to join their team.
The ideal candidate will have excellent technical skills, problem-solving ability, and a commitment to maintaining the reliability and safety of clients’ fleets.
Role: Mobile HGV Technician
Hours: Any shift patterns, overtime availability
Location: Barking
Key Responsibilities
* Respond promptly to roadside repair callouts for HGVs, diagnosing and fixing issues to minimise downtime.
* Perform scheduled on-site servicing for HGVs at client locations.
* Manage on-site clinics, providing diagnostics, routine maintenance, and minor repairs for commercial fleets.
* Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using modern diagnostic tools and techniques.
* Complete repairs, including brakes, suspension, exhausts, and other HGV components.
* Ensure all work meets safety standards and regulatory compliance.
* Maintain accurate records of completed work, including parts used and recommendations for additional maintenance.
* Communicate effectively with clients to provide updates and ensure customer satisfaction.
* Adhere to health and safety protocols and maintain the cleanliness and organisation of your service van and tools.
Requirements:
* Proven experience as an HGV mechanic with a focus on roadside repairs and on-site servicing.
* Strong technical knowledge of HGV mechanical and electrical systems.
* Ability to use diagnostic equipment effectively to identify and resolve faults.
* NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair.
* A valid UK driving licence (HGV licence is advantageous but not essential).
* Self-motivated and capable of working independently.
* A strong commitment to health and safety and high-quality workmanship.
Desirable Skills:
* Experience in managing on-site fleet clinics is advantageous.
* Strong communication and customer service skills.
* Welding or fabrication experience is a bonus.
