📍 Location: Mobile role covering Bristol and the surrounding areas, with occasional travel to London when required

📅 Shift Pattern: 4 on, 4 off (2 Days / 2 Nights)
⏰ Shift Hours: 8am-8pm / 8pm-8am (12-hour shifts)
Travel time is included within your working hours, meaning your shift starts when you leave for your assigned site. Participation in a 24/7 on-call rota is required, although call-outs are infrequent.
About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Mobile Mechanic to join our growing Rail team. This is an exciting opportunity to work on advanced rail power systems and equipment across multiple customer sites, primarily in the Bristol area, with occasional support required in London.
As a Mobile Mechanic, you will be responsible for carrying out planned and reactive maintenance, fault finding, diagnostics and repairs, ensuring equipment remains safe, reliable and fully operational. Reporting to the Site Team Leader or Supervisor, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality engineering support while maintaining the highest standards of safety and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and corrective maintenance activities in line with schedules and technical specifications.
Diagnose faults and perform repairs using technical drawings, manuals and diagnostic equipment.
Complete maintenance reports and documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and operational efficiencies.
Attend customer meetings when required to discuss and sign off completed work.
Ensure compliance with all Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental (HSQE) requirements.
Maintain clean, organised and safe working environments.
Participate in ongoing technical training and development programmes.
Work as part of a 24/7 shift rota and provide occasional emergency call-out support.
Travel between customer sites as part of a mobile engineering team.
Accurately record parts usage and support effective stock management.
Use company systems and IT equipment for reporting, diagnostics and communication.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
A background in mechanical and/or electrical engineering.
NVQ Level 3 in Engineering (or equivalent qualification).
Strong understanding of safe working practices and compliance requirements.
Ability to interpret technical drawings, manuals and maintenance documentation.
Basic IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
A full UK driving licence.
