Job Title: Maintenance Engineer
Location: London
Salary: Up to £45,000 per annum (dependent on skills and qualifications)
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm, with overtime when required
Overview:
We are seeking a proactive and reliable Maintenance Engineer to oversee the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and compliance of building systems within a client-occupied site in London. The role involves carrying out planned preventive maintenance (PPM) tasks, managing reactive works, and ensuring building services operate efficiently, safely, and in line with client expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
Planned Preventive Maintenance:
• Conduct daily walkarounds to check building fabric, plant rooms, control panels, and general condition.
• Maintain kitchen grease traps and shower traps on a weekly basis.
• Coordinate and schedule PPM activities.
• Carry out minor painting and fabric repairs, including periodic refresh of office areas.
• Record findings, escalate issues, and ensure remedial works are completed.
Reactive Maintenance & Site Operations:
• Manage and prioritise daily reactive maintenance tasks.
• Ensure all follow-up actions are completed professionally and within required timeframes.
• Act as the main on-site contact for facilities and maintenance matters.
• Support occasional out-of-hours works or events when required.
• Hold regular review meetings to discuss ongoing and upcoming maintenance tasks.
Contractor Supervision & Permit Control:
• Supervise specialist contractors to ensure work is delivered safely and to the required standard.
• Operate and manage the Permit to Work process, ensuring compliance with risk assessments and method statements.
Stock Control & Administration:
• Maintain stock levels for consumables, tools, and replacement parts.
• Source quotes and arrange replenishment when required.
• Maintain ladder and access equipment logs in line with safety standards.
• Keep site logbooks and maintenance records up to date.
• Ensure compliance with KPI and SLA requirements.
• Use CAFM, email, and reporting systems effectively and professionally.
Skills & Experience:
• Proven background in building maintenance or facilities engineering.
• Strong understanding of building services systems (BMS, fire alarms, HVAC, leak detection, lighting).
• Ability to manage maintenance records and stock levels.
• Knowledge of safe systems of work and statutory compliance.
• Competent in basic painting and fabric repairs.
• Strong communication, organisational and IT skills.
• Experience supervising contractors and coordinating multiple tasks.
