Multi-Skilled Engineer
Location: Glasgow
Shifts: Dayshift & Backshift Rotation
Industry: Food Manufacturing
Salary: up to £43K + Benefits + 12.5% back shift allowance
Alexander Steele have partnered exclusively with a leading food manufacturer in Glasgow who are known for their quality, innovation, and commitment to excellence. We’re seeking a Multi-Skilled Engineer to join their high-performing engineering team.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a dynamic production environment where you’ll be responsible for the maintenance of all production machinery, site facilities, and infrastructure, playing a key role in minimising downtime and ensuring operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
* Execute planned preventative maintenance (PPM) to agreed schedules.
* Respond quickly and efficiently to machinery breakdowns.
* Carry out regular machinery inspections to ensure safe and efficient operation.
* Ensure machinery guards, isolators, and safety features are maintained.
* Complete accurate maintenance documentation and job cards.
* Source and manage critical spare parts stock.
* Support the installation and commissioning of new machinery.
* Perform production line changeovers in line with the production schedule.
* Maintain the facility and collaborate on continuous improvement initiatives.
* Ensure contractors follow site H&S and food safety protocols.
* Promote and maintain a safe working environment at all times.
What We're Looking For:
Essential:
* HND or Degree in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
* Previous experience in an FMCG or food manufacturing environment.
* Proven problem-solving and troubleshooting capabilities.
* Ability to work independently and manage own workload.
* Strong attention to detail and documentation skills.
* A proactive, flexible approach to challenges and change.
Shift Pattern:
Dayshift:
Mon – Thurs: 6am – 2:30pm
Friday: 6am – 2pm
Backshift (1 week in 3):
Mon – Thurs: 2pm – 10pm
Friday: 2pm – 9:30pm
