As a Multi-Skilled Engineer, you will play a key role in maintaining and improving our automated packaging lines. You'll be responsible for diagnosing electrical and mechanical faults, carrying out planned and reactive maintenance, and supporting continuous improvement projects.
You will work with advanced robotics, PLC systems (fault-finding, modifications, and optimisation), pneumatic and hydraulic equipment, and a wide range of high-speed machinery. This role requires strong analytical thinking, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work effectively under pressure in a dynamic production environment.
Key responsibilities include:
Conducting reactive and preventative maintenance on packaging and automated equipment
Fault-finding on electrical systems, PLCs, sensors, motors, and control panels
Troubleshooting mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues
Supporting process improvements and equipment upgrades
Ensuring all maintenance activity aligns with safety and compliance standards
Collaborating with production teams to minimise downtime
Maintaining accurate maintenance records and documentation
✔️ Job Requirements
Essential:
Time-served Electrical Engineer or equivalent qualification (HNC/HND/NVQ Level 3)
Strong electrical bias with multi-skilled capability
Experience in a fast-paced manufacturing or FMCG environment
Knowledge of packaging machinery and automated production systems
Proven experience with PLC fault-finding (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley)
Familiarity with robotics, pneumatic and hydraulic systems
Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
