Job Description

Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer
Salary: £50,000-£55,000 per annum
An established manufacturing business is looking for an experienced Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join its engineering team based in Macclesfiled.
You'll play a vital role in keeping a busy manufacturing site running safely and efficiently—responding to breakdowns, completing planned maintenance and supporting continuous improvement across the business.
Key responsibilities
  * Respond to machinery breakdowns and minimise production downtime
  * Complete planned preventative maintenance, statutory checks and site inspections
  * Prioritise workloads alongside the Engineering Team Leader
  * Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults quickly and effectively
  * Complete accurate end-of-shift reports, recording completed work and outstanding issues
  * Manage contractors on site, including inductions, permits and safe working procedures
  * Follow all company health, safety and environmental policies
  * Apply permit-to-work and isolation procedures when required
  * Support engineering and wider site-improvement projects
  * Provide additional emergency-hours cover when required
About you
  * Experienced in breakdown maintenance within a manufacturing or production environment
  * Strong mechanical and electrical engineering skills
  * Able to fault-find using mechanical and electrical drawings
  * Good understanding of pneumatic and hydraulic systems
  * Computer literate and confident completing digital maintenance reports
  * Qualified to ONC level in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
  * Practical, safety-conscious and able to remain calm under pressure
  * Comfortable working independently and as part of a skilled engineering team
Knowledge of PLC fault-finding, machining, welding or pipe fitting would be an advantage.
First Aid training or a forklift/scissor-lift licence would also be desirable, although not essential.
