Multi-skilled Engineering Technician (Electrically Biased) – Bristol (BS35)
Shifts: 12-hour rotating day and night shifts (average 3.25 days per week)
Pattern includes: 7 consecutive days off per month
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Location: Unit 1, Central Park, Goldcrest Way, Bristol, BS35 4GH (commutable from Severn Beach, Avonmouth, Patchway, Filton & surrounding areas)

About the role
We’re looking for a Multi-skilled Engineering Technician with an electrical bias to join CHEP – the global leader in pallet, crate, and container pooling. You’ll maintain and improve manufacturing equipment using a multi-skilled approach, working to high safety and reliability standards in a fast-paced, automated environment.
What you’ll do
* Perform proactive and reactive maintenance across site equipment, ensuring health and safety procedures are always followed
* Diagnose faults and carry out root cause analysis
* Continually seek ways to improve all processes and procedures relating to equipment maintenance
* Support the site Reliability agenda: identify failure modes and trends, complete root cause analysis, and drive agreed actions
* Provide support to site Project and Change Initiatives as appropriate
* Use CMMS to log and manage maintenance tasks
* Supervise contractors and issue work permits
* Ensure all work complies with health & safety regulations
What we need from you
* Electrical bias is essential – must hold relevant electrical qualifications
* Level 3 Engineering Apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 in Electrical/Mechanical Maintenance
* Multi-skilled across electrical and mechanical disciplines
* Experience in fast-paced, safety-driven environments
* Strong fault-finding skills (electrical, mechanical, PLC)
* Ability to read engineering drawings and operate workshop tools
* Experience and/or certifications in automation, PLCs, and robotics highly desirable
* Safety-conscious, adaptable, and a team player
Shift Pattern Example
A typical rotation includes: 3 nights on, 2 days off, 3 days on, 2 days off, 3 nights on, 2 days off, 2 days on, 7 consecutive days off, 2 days on, 2 days off.
