Job Description

Multiskilled Maintenance Technician with mechanical bias sought by a recycling facility in Runcorn.  This subsidiary of an international, £multibillion turnover plastics manufacturer is focused on growing the circular economy and they see innovation within PVC recycling as pivotal to their global sustainability strategy.   This is a permanent role on weekly rotating shifts, 6am to 2pm and 2pm to 10pm, known formally within the business as Mechanical Technician.   The Role: As a Multiskilled Maintenance Technician with mechanical bias, you’ll be working as part of a team on the installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of bearing replacements conveyor belts, motor gearbox replacements, electrical and instrumentation equipment in compliance with industry regulations, Health & Safety standards, and company procedures. Your duties will include: Carrying out mechanical tasks as part of a multifunctional team: bearing replacements conveyor belts, motor gearbox replacements Carrying out TPM tasks to ensure maximum OEE is achieved Participating in continuous improvement initiatives, identifying opportunities to enhance system reliability and efficiency Working closely with engineers, production teams and external contractors to ensure timely resolution of issues Following strict Health & Safety guidelines, conducting risk assessments and ensuring compliance with safe work practices Working as part of a team installing, calibrating and maintaining electrical and instrumentation systems including motors, sensors, actuators, PLCs and control panels Troubleshooting: diagnosing and repairing electrical and instrumentation faults on a variety of systems Performing routine testing, calibration and validation of instrumentation and control systems to ensure optimal performance Accurately maintaining records of all electrical and instrumentation work: maintenance logs, calibration reports, work orders and spare parts stores management Ensuring all work complies with relevant legislation, including Electricity at Work Regulations, IEE Wiring Regulations (BS 7671) and company policies Working on a shift pattern or 6am-2pm and 2pm-10pm, rotating on a weekly basis The successful Multiskilled Maintenance Technician will demonstrate: NVQ Level 3 in Engineering or equivalent Strong mechanical engineering bias with some electrical experience Excellent communication skills Excellent problem-solving and diagnostic skills Ability to work independently and within a team Strong organisational skills and attention to detail Proficiency with electrical drawings and schematics  The following skills and experience are desirable but not essential: 18th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations (BS 7671) City & Guilds 2391 (Inspection & Testing) or equivalent Demonstrable experience in an electrical and instrumentation role, across multiple sectors including manufacturing, industrial, energy, or related industries Strong knowledge of electrical systems, control systems, and instrumentation technologies Instrumentation certification COMPEX certification Experience working in hazardous environments (ATEX) Familiarity with DCS (Distributed Control Systems) Experience with PLCs, SCADA systems, and automation is advantageous  Benefits: £41,671.61 including shift allowance and bonus – see below £36,683.28 base salary (£18.87 hourly rate) 10% shift allowance (after completing probation) £60 per month attendance bonus £50 per month production target bonus Time off in lieu Pension scheme Free flu jabs Health & wellbeing 32 days holidays including bank holidays, rising to 33 days after 2 years’ service  Option to buy and sell holiday   Cycle to Work scheme Long service awards Company rewards platform Employee assistance programme Internal training academy Access to external training and supported education Social culture and events  Multiskilled Maintenance Technician – Mechanical Bias   Runcorn, Cheshire   £41,671.61 (£36,683.28 + 10% shift allowance + £1,320 bonus) + excellent benefits   Mechanical Engineer | Mechanical Technician | Maintenance Technician | Maintenance Engineer | Mechanical Maintenance | Multiskilled | Multi Skilled | Plant Engineer | Plant Technician | Electrical Engineer | Electrical Maintenance | Instrumentation Engineer
