We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Music Teacher to join a small, well-established secondary school in the close-knit community of Dursley from September 2025. Key Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality, engaging music lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, inspiring students to develop a lifelong appreciation for music.

Teach a broad curriculum encompassing instrumental and vocal tuition, music theory, composition, music technology, and performance skills.

Direct and coordinate ensembles, bands, and choirs, encouraging students to participate in both informal and formal performance opportunities throughout the school year.

Develop and lead extra-curricular clubs including instrumental groups, music production clubs, and songwriting workshops, providing students with varied avenues to explore their musical interests.
*
Organise and oversee school concerts, recitals, and community music events that showcase student talent and engage local audiences, fostering strong links between the school and wider community.

Manage and maintain music department equipment and resources, including sound systems, instruments, recording technology, and digital audio workstations, ensuring they are effectively used and properly cared for.

Work closely with other staff to embed music within cross-curricular projects and school-wide celebrations, promoting the arts as an integral part of the wider school experience.

Provide tailored support and challenge to students of all abilities, ensuring inclusive teaching practices that motivate and inspire every learner.
Candidate Profile
*
You will hold a degree in Music or a related discipline, alongside Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), and have a strong commitment to delivering outstanding music education.
*
Demonstrable experience as a skilled performer, ideally proficient in multiple instruments and comfortable leading ensembles and solo performances.
*
Familiarity with contemporary music production software and studio technology is highly desirable, as the school encourages innovative approaches to music teaching including digital composition and recording.
*
A team player with excellent communication skills who is enthusiastic about working collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and the local community to enhance the music curriculum.

Experienced in organising and leading extra-curricular activities and events, with a proactive approach to student engagement beyond the classroom.
