Speech and Language Therapist – Newly Qualified
Location: Walsall, West Midlands
Employment Type: Permanent | Term-Time Only (option to extend to all-year-round)
Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Salary: Up to £30,000 FTE (depending on experience)
Role Summary
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Newly Qualified Speech and Language Therapist to join a well-established multidisciplinary team within a specialist education setting. The position involves supporting pupils aged 6 to 18 with diverse communication needs and developmental differences.
The role is ideally suited to a graduate or early-career therapist seeking structured clinical support, access to a formal RCSLT preceptorship programme, and a progressive environment that embraces neurodiversity and trauma-informed principles. You’ll work closely with educational and clinical staff in a school-based service, delivering interventions that positively impact students’ learning, communication and wellbeing.
Core Duties
* Carry out speech and language assessments and intervention planning under the supervision of an experienced clinician
* Actively work towards completing RCSLT competencies within the first 12 to 24 months
* Deliver both 1:1 and group interventions tailored to a wide range of communication profiles
* Provide input and training to staff teams, carers, and other professionals
* Contribute to reports, clinical documentation, and multi-agency review processes
Candidate Profile
* Degree in Speech and Language Therapy (BSc/MSc)
* HCPC registered or working towards RCSLT registration
* Confident communicator with strong interpersonal and planning skills
* Commitment to inclusive practice and willingness to work as part of a collaborative team
* Awareness of autism, ADHD, sensory profiles and other neurodevelopmental conditions
