About the Role:
TeacherActive is proud to be supporting a rapidly improving secondary academy in South West Birmingham in recruiting for a Non-Teaching Head of Year.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a vibrant, supportive and ambitious school community recently graded ‘Good’ in all areas by Ofsted.
A medium-sized, inclusive 11–16 academy with a diverse and vibrant student community
The school places a strong emphasis on pastoral care, respect and high expectations, with staff and students alike proud of the significant progress made in recent years.
As part of a well-established pastoral team, you will play a key role in supporting the wellbeing, attendance, and behaviour of students, ensuring they are nurtured, challenged and fully supported to thrive both academically and personally.
Key Responsibilities:
Leading the pastoral care and behaviour support for a specific year group
Building strong, positive relationships with students, staff, parents, and external agencies
Monitoring attendance, behaviour and academic progress to ensure students are supported effectively
Working collaboratively with teaching and support staff to deliver high standards of care and guidance
Contributing to the wider school community and ethos
What We’re Looking For:
Experience of working with young people in a pastoral or similar role within an educational setting
A strong understanding of pastoral issues and safeguarding responsibilities
Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills
A positive, solution-focused approach and the ability to build trust and respect
A genuine commitment to supporting the personal and academic development of young people
