We have an exciting opportunity for an NPD Technologist to join a specialist, quality-driven business where your NPD expertise will shape the future of fresh, prepared foods.
The NPD Technologist will be the crucial link between the product development kitchen and the production line, ensuring new and redeveloped products meet shelf-life, quality, and commercial targets as they move from trials to factory production.
As NPD Technologist, you will lead research and development projects, coordinate production trials, and communicate outcomes clearly to all relevant teams. You will identify issues, recommend improvements, measure yield, and ensure compliance with quality, safety, and customer standards.
NPD Technologist Key Responsibilities
* Lead new product development projects, ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards
* Develop clear procedures for recipes and oversee product launch readiness
* Coordinate with cross-functional teams to plan and manage factory and production trials
* Identify and trial new raw materials, supporting innovation and recipe improvements
* Conduct sensory, shelf-life, and microbiological assessments to validate product performance
* Liaise with internal teams for costing, documentation, and timely delivery of samples
NPD Technologist Key Requirements
* Experience in end-to-end product development, from concept through to launch
* Strong understanding of shelf-life, quality, and commercial considerations in a chilled, prepared food manufacturing environment
* Degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)
* HACCP Level 2 certification required; Level 3 Food Safety + Auditing qualifications beneficial
* Confident working with high-profile customers in a professional setting
