Nurse Location: Wymondham College, Wymondham Salary: FTE: £42,170 per annum, Pro-rata £22,953-£28,768 per annum, including an allowance for holiday pay Vacancy Type: Permanent, 823.50 HOURS OVER 38 WEEKS, TERM TIME PLUS 3 WEEKS Starting: September 2026 Wymondham College has over 400 staff dedicated to supporting World Class education. The College currently is one of the top State Schools in the Country and is recognised as one of the highest performing State Schools in the East of England, this is backed up by its most recent Ofsted inspections which rated the College as Outstanding in both Education and Boarding 2023. The College is focused on providing outstanding quality to their students and staff not only in education but also through its provision of exceptional facilities and accommodation on site across its 83-acre campus. We’re seeking a committed, high‑standard Nurse (Band 6 or equivalent) to join our school Medical Centre, providing exceptional clinical, pastoral and first‑aid care to students, with strengths in areas such as mental health, adolescent wellbeing, triage and day‑to‑day medical support. PERSON SPECIFICATION The personal competencies expected of all College support staff are: The ability to communicate clearly and tactfully using appropriate methods and an awareness of the impact of your own communication on others. Able to maintain positive relationships with all and able to work as an effective and flexible part of a team; willing to change methods of work and routines to benefit the team. Willingness to accept responsibility for your own actions; the ability to prioritise effectively, meet deadlines and accept challenges. The personal competencies expected of a Nurse are: Provide clear, concise timely and appropriate oral and written communication; Listen well and understand others’ needs and perspectives; Meet objectives on their own initiative and be committed to continuous self-development. Show willingness to attend appropriate on-going training/updating; Be flexible, co-operative and helpful; self-aware; collaborate well and have the ability to work alone and as part of a team; Be organised; systematic, efficient and meet agreed priorities; Respond to change: be investigative, adaptable and prepared; Have good basic keyboard skills; Undertake all the physical requirements of the post and use equipment according to health and safety guidelines. The qualifications and previous experience required for a Nurse are: * A registered Nurse (adult or child branch) with current NMC registration and at least three years nursing experience; * Ideally be qualified to RCN Band 6 or equivalent; * Experience of working consultatively with other health professionals and support staff. To provide a high standard of service within NMC guidelines to students, members of staff, their families and any visitors while on site. This will include to: * Work as a member of an interdisciplinary team to promote health and wellness; * Assess, implement and evaluate in-patient care of students admitted to the Medical Centre (within agreed levels of competence); * Ensure care plans are developed and written for students requiring them, in liaison with pupils, parents and boarding House staff and disseminate them to the appropriate staff; * Provide first aid and emergency care and treatment as necessary; * Maintain stock of all school first aid kits; * Provide a confidential counselling and health advice service as appropriate; * Provide sexual health advice, e.g. contraception and emergency contraception, SAI screening, as per protocols; * Follow good practice and specific directives on immunisation procedures relevant to the school population and individuals; All College staff enjoy a number of non-contractual benefits, including: * Professional development * Free refreshments * Free on-site car parking * A generous pension as part of the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) * Discounts, reward cards & promo codes via our staff benefits platform * A Cycle to Work scheme * 24/7 access to our Employee Assistance Programme, at no cost to you. * Children of staff benefit from increased priority under the admissions policy for their school base after 2 years continuous service.
