Are you an experienced finance professional looking for a meaningful role in the early years sector? Join Atherton House Nursery Group, a family-run group of seven children's nurseries across the North West, as our Nursery Accounts Manager.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a warm, people-centred environment but has a sharp eye for numbers and strong organisational skills. You’ll play a key role in ensuring the smooth financial running of our nurseries, supporting both our families and our staff teams.
About the role
You will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of day-to-day financial management across the group, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely reporting. While nursery experience is not essential, familiarity with early years funding processes and working with local authorities would be a bonus.
Key responsibilities
* Maintain and manage accurate financial records across all nursery sites
* Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports
* Manage accounts payable and receivable, including parent fees and early years funding
* Support budget preparation and forecasting with senior management
* Liaise with local authorities for funding queries and during audits
* Ensure compliance with financial regulations and company policies
* Use QuickBooks to manage financial processes
What we’re looking for
* Previous experience as a Bookkeeper, Finance Officer, or similar role is desirable
* Knowledge of general accounting principles and financial reporting
* Strong proficiency in QuickBooks
* Confident using Excel and Microsoft Office
* Excellent attention to detail and time management
* Clear communicator with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively
* Experience in a childcare or education setting is desirable
* Understanding of nursery funding or LA payments is a strong advantage

Salary: £30,000 – £35,000 (Dependent on Experience)
Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week
